The Fix-It Playbook — AC Not Cooling Diagnostic Checklist

AC running but the air isn't cold? Start at the top of the list and work down to the part that actually failed.

There are only seven reasons an AC stops blowing cold, and six of them you can check yourself in a few minutes. Run them in order — cheapest and most common first — and you'll know which one is yours before you spend a dollar, including the one case that genuinely needs a licensed pro.

On one printable page: all seven causes in the order to check them, the tell that identifies each one, and the repair guide that walks you through the fix.
